How to talk about Smart PPE™

On your packaging, website and in press. The approved terminology, copy blocks you can paste directly, and guidance on how to reference the partnership on your own site.

Terminology

Combined usage

Smart PPE™ powered by Scannable®

When both marks appear together — in a product name, headline, or formal partnership declaration — this is the correct combined form. The ™ follows Smart PPE and the ® follows Scannable. Outside of this combined form, Scannable carries no symbol in marketing or packaging copy.

The product category

Smart PPE™

The category name for safety equipment — helmets, harnesses, ropes, lanyards — that ships with Scannable technology embedded. It describes what a manufacturer makes, not a single product. Say a brand 'makes Smart PPE™', not that a specific item 'is Smart PPE'.

Example

Edelrid makes Smart PPE™.

The partnership declaration

Powered by Scannable

The lockup that lives on your product, packaging, and marketing. It tells the buyer this item connects to the Scannable system. This is what your brand carries — not ours.

Example

Our [Product] is Powered by Scannable.

[Brand] Smart PPE™, Powered by Scannable®.

The company

Scannable

The company building the technology and infrastructure for manufacturers, and the app for equipment owners. Use when attributing the technology or referring to the system itself. Never used as an adjective for your own product.

Example

Scan your smart product and all the information will show in the Scannable app.

Usage & trademark

Three marks. Three rules.

  • Smart PPE™Trademark symbol (™) on first use per page or document. Plain 'Smart PPE' on subsequent uses.
  • Powered by ScannableAlways title case. Never lowercase. No ® or ™. Never abbreviated.
  • ScannablePlain. No ® in marketing or packaging copy — except in the combined form 'Smart PPE™ powered by Scannable®'.

The association is a declaration: your product connects to the Scannable system. Lead with the outcome – the ability to tap, scan and read – not with the technology e.g. the chip or the 2D code.

Your website

Referencing Scannable on your website.

Buyers research before they buy. Manufacturers that clearly explain the benefits of Smart PPE™ — using the right messaging, the right mark, and a dedicated page — build trust faster and make it easier for buyers to choose their products. Here's what that page should include.

Recommended content

  • The Powered by Scannable lockup on every Smart PPE™ page and product listing.
  • Smart PPE™ in the product name or sub-headline on first use (with ™).
  • A one-paragraph explanation of what Smart PPE means for the buyer.
  • A link to the Scannable app or scannable.io so buyers can learn more.

The lockup next to products

Two placements do most of the work.

On the listing grid, the stacked Smart PPE™ gradient mark is enough — it’s a badge, and the buyer only needs to know which items in the range are smart. On the product page, use the horizontal Powered by Scannable lockup near the buy area, where it reads as a spec rather than a sticker.

Common mistakes

Common mistakes.

1

Writing 'scannable' in lowercase — the brand name must always be capitalised, even when the rest of the phrase is lowercase (e.g. 'powered by Scannable' is fine).

2

Adding ® or ™ to standalone 'Scannable' in marketing copy — only use ® in the combined form 'Smart PPE™ powered by Scannable®'.

3

Leading with the technology ('NFC-equipped') instead of the outcome ('Powered by Scannable').

4

Using 'Smart PPE' without ™ on its first use on a page or document.

5

Calling it 'Scannable-enabled' — that's not a real term in this system.

6

Describing the chip placement in marketing copy — the hangtag handles that. Keep your packaging copy clean.
